The short answer
Use Shazam when music is playing out loud near you. Use FindTunes when the song is inside a video you can copy a link to, especially when you cannot or do not want to play it out loud.
They solve different problems. Shazam listens. FindTunes reads the video itself.
Why Shazam struggles with videos
To Shazam a TikTok you have to play it out loud while Shazam listens. Creators often talk over the music, add sound effects or speed it up, and all of that reaches the microphone too.
If you are in class, at work or in bed with the sound off, you are stuck. A link based finder does not need any sound at all.
What FindTunes does differently
Paste the link and FindTunes pulls the audio from the video and checks it directly. When there is talking, it can also try again with the voice reduced. You can choose an exact moment with Trim when a long video has several songs.
Results open in Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music or Amazon Music, and you can build a playlist of similar songs from any find.
When Shazam is still the better pick
In a store, a car or at a party, Shazam is quicker because there is no link to copy. It is also free with no limits.
Many people use both: Shazam for the real world, FindTunes for their feed.
