How to find a song from a YouTube Short

Find music from a Short's link, check the sound label, and use a clip when a song is hard to hear.

Start with the Short's sound label

Open the Short in YouTube and look for its sound information. If it names a song and artist, check that song first. A label such as original audio may describe the upload rather than the background song, so it is not always the answer.

Listen to the part you care about. A Short can contain an opening sound, background music, and an ending track. Knowing which part you want helps you check whether a recognition result is correct.

Copy the video link

Use Share, then Copy link in YouTube. Paste the link into FindTunes and select Find song. You do not need to play the video through a second device or create a paid account.

Shorts links, regular YouTube watch links, and youtu.be share links are accepted. The video still needs to be accessible to the recognition provider. A private or deleted video cannot be made available just by pasting its link.

Check the result before saving

When a song is found, compare the song name and artist with what you heard. Open an available Spotify or Apple Music link to check the recording. A remix or sped-up edit may sound different from the original recording returned by the catalog.

Cover art is useful for browsing, but it is not proof of the exact version. If the result sounds wrong, try a clearer part instead of relying only on the confidence number.

If the link does not return a song

Try uploading a clip that you have the right to use, or record the music with Listen. If you upload a clip, choose Trim and select the part where the music is easiest to hear. Avoid sections dominated by speech, game sounds, or silence.

YouTube link scans check a limited number of moments. A very brief song can be missed, particularly in a longer video. Uploading the specific section gives the recognizer a better chance of hearing the music you want. Recognition is not guaranteed, and some tracks are not in the catalog.
